A pottery that walked through the 400 years of history with the tea culture of Uji since its foundation back in the Keicho period. We make many kinds of dishes and potteries, mainly tea things and teapots.

“Asahi Pottery” is the only pottery that was built at the base of Mt. Asahi under the direction of Kobori Masakazu during the Keicho period (the late Momoyama period ~ the early Edo period). We have reached our 15th generation with our master, Hosai Matsubayashi. We put great effort into details of potteries that we make with our tradition and techniques. We also have our own shop and gallery located next to the atelier. We are looking forward to seeing you.
