A guardian shrine of Uji region. We hold a prefectural festival in June, and Kenchasai (a festival where we present tea to the shrine) in November.
Agata Shrine is located approximately 100m to the west from the south gate of Byodoin. The enshrined deity here is known as a god of fire called “Konohananosakuyahime”. Many people visit Agata Shrine for good relationships, safe births and good pregnancy. It has been told that Agata Shrine was a village shrine when Byodoin was built.
The prefectural festival that is held from 6/5~6/6 is often called the “Unique festival of midnight”, and many people visit the festival every year.
